lutruwita/Tasmania’s ‘pine’ trees need no introduction to those in the know, especially the Pencil pine (Athrotaxis cupressoides) which grows only sporadically and can stand for thousands of years.
Skies are rarely clear in their natural range, but when they are, their isolation and altitude makes them perfect subjects for astronomy. Seeing ancient light that has travelled longer than modern man has been alive rise over these survivors is a rare treat.
