Pencil pine

A slow-growing conifer, not a true pine, endemic to Tasmania’s subalpine mountains, forming conical trees up to 20 metres around tarns and wet, rocky ground. Individuals can live over a thousand years, adding only about 12 millimetres of trunk diameter annually.
